Profile customization doesn't work..?

I've searched the forums, but I can't seem to find another thread on this, so here goes...

I figured I would make my LQ color layout match my GTK/Emerald layouts on both my machines (white on black is so much easier on the eyes ), so I tried customizing the colors to a dark theme. Apparently the settings don't really apply (or something), though, because even if I log out and back in, the layout is still the default white/blue theme. The settings do keep, as when I go into the Customize Profile page again, the settings are still the way I set them. It's just that the colors aren't really being applied to the forum pages.

Is this a bug? Intentional? Something I did/didn't do? All I did was change the colors and hit "Save Changes".

Hmmm...I'm not seeing anything different. Perhaps it has to do with the login problem? I'm having the same problem as described in this thread, in that I keep having to log into LQ manually each time I close the browser. Maybe it's because my cookies need to be cleared? I'll try Jeremy's link in the thread again, and see if that does it.

I suggest you to manually delete cookies of LQ. Because some people reported that Jeremy's link to clear cookies is not working !
Good luck !

Okay — you were right, Jeremy's link doesn't work for me. But deleting the cookies manually doesn't seem to work, either. Is there anything else I should try?

Posting from Ubuntu — same deal, no cigar. Even after deleting cookies manually.

EDIT: On the upside, now I don't have to manually log in every time!

@MrCode - what browser are you using? Are you really truly DoublePlus sure that you deleted all cookies that contain 'linuxquestions' in their URL, I found that I had over 20 in my list.

I'm using Firefox 3.6 "Namoroka" on Arch, and Firefox 3.0.17 on Ubuntu (the one which came installed by default). I'm pretty sure I've deleted any and all cookies related to "linuxquestions.org" in both browsers. In fact, I got rid of everything in Ubuntu and set up a policy to only allow cookies from certain sites (including LQ, of course) on both machines.

Solved. It does work, it's just not what I thought it was...

See, I thought you could customize your view of the whole forum, but those colors really do apply only to your profile, as in the profile people see when they click your SN in a post and hit "View Public Profile".

So I guess there really is no way to make the main forums look any different from the defaults... I guess I was expecting to be able to because I've seen it on other message boards/forums before. Oh well, I guess not all BB software is alike, then.

(Man, I feel so stupid for not thinking of this sooner...)

Mine looks awesome: http://www.linuxquestions.org/user/xavierp-19341/ (do not visit if you have epilepsy, are pregnant, are slightly nauseous or prefer colours not to be like those ones)

FWIW, I do not see any changes of color in your guys' profiles. I have not made any color changes myself, and all three of your guys' profiles colors are the default. Perhaps I'm looking for the wrong thing?
