Posted question lost; Second try..

I posted a thread (now lost) in this forum asking if there was a convention explanation area for us newbies that are in need of definitions and/or explanations of certain terms. I checked my posted messages and none were found. Is there such a online dictionary of terms around someplace?

What sort of explanations do you need? We have the LQ Wiki and the LQ Tutorials sections which may be of help to you (look under the section called "Main Menu" to the right of the screen). Otherwise, every distro comes with manual pages inbuilt - just run man man to see how to use them.

Do you mean a glossary?

Would The Jargon File at least be fun, if not actually helpful?

Maybe do a Google search on "linux glossary"?

Or learn to do Google Linux searches on individual terms as you encounter them.
