Possible issue with thread last update times and unread status
Hi all, I posted 2 threads recently and both of them are behaving oddly.
Neither one seems to recognize that I've read them - they both remain in bold. And one of them is reporting that I updated it earlier today, when I haven't touched it since last night. Any ideas? These are the two threads: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...uspend-936123/ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...pgrade-936970/ |
Update...
This thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...pgrade-936970/ is now reporting that I posted this morning at 4:44, and I definitely did not. Note that since no new posts exist, the incorrect time only shows up in the Slackware forum, not in the thread itself. Should I post this to the bug reports forum? |
This isn't a bug, but is due to the fact that threads with 0 replies are automatically "bumped" twice to get them more exposure.

That makes sense Jeremy, thank you!
However, it doesn't seem to explain why they still appear as unread to me. Some 0-reply posts get recognized as read, some don't. For example, these ones are marked as unread, even though I have read them: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ldrmfb-937152/ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...r-down-937012/ And this one is marked as read: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...orking-937241/ Thanks again. |
The bump causes them to be marked as unread. We're looking into a more intuitive way to handle the auto-bump in the future.

Should it persistently be marked as unread after being bumped? Or should it be marked as read once it's been read again after being bumped?
Thanks again. |
There's a known issue that, for some members, it will remain unread during the auto-bump period.

Thanks for the explanation!
