Please consider upgrading my reputation as I'm an old member of this forum. Thank you very much.

Your profile says you registered in April 2013, that's not what I would call old unless you were referring to your age.
If you want your reputation "upgraded" you need to enable it in your profile, you then need to be helpful.

A couple of questions...

1. What does it mean to "enable it in your profile?" Enable what? Enable it where?

2. Is an "upgraded reputation" what's necessary to be able to post questions? I tried to post a question last night (entitled "How can I coax RHEL/CentOS/SL 7 into booting normally with degraded software RAID?") and it flashed "your post will not appear until a moderator has approved it," or something like that, and the question still hasn't appeared.

(I first registered here exactly 9 years ago.)

To enable your reputation visibility, from the top of any page when logged in, click My LQ >> Settings and Options (in left menu) >> Edit Options...

You will find a checkbox for "Show your reputation level", check that and submit the page.

And no, reputation is not involved in whether you can post or not. Due to the ever escalating SPAM environment, your post may have been flagged for moderation - I do not know exactly what rules apply for that.

How long you have been registered should have no bearing on anything at all. Your post count is 3, you last post before this one was in 2006. By all indications your activity level on LQ has been nearly non existant since you joined and has been non existent since you logged off after 2:59 PM on 27-09-06 after your last post over 8 years ago.

You get reputation by other users rating your answers as helpful. Want more reputation? Then answer some questions with accurate answers, and help others.

How many threads have you posted answers to since you've been here?

IMHO, the amount of reputation you have to "spread around" before giving it to the same user again is a bit ridiculous. It seems the same users are usually the ones answering questions I have and thus I have been unable to rep them again.

i dont know why you need reputation to be increased.. as said it is given by the users when you post a helpful answer.. sometimes it is not even then.. but the thing that matters is you learn things with answering questions, if you were helpful no matter that adds to your reputation or not on the site but that sure adds to your knowledge.. and if you were not helpful some would always post a right answer again it adds to your knowledge..

The one time I considered begging for an additional Rep. point was when I was sitting at 666. I mean, like, who's going to believe a guy with a "666" reputation? ;)

You might attract a following of a certain type, of course as soon as they expressed approval via rep you'd lose it :)

A feature should be added to free reputation. That way, if mine ever reaches 666, I could freeze it and attract my own unholy following. :D
