please always suppress smilies within [code]


Shouldn't smilies be always suppressed within [_code][_/code] Tags? (underscores to prevent interpretation of tags)

They can be. Just check 'disable smilies in this post'. :)

Of course, that affects the whole post, and it does seem like it should always suppress them, anyway, by the fact of their being in code blocks alone - probably some hairy backend stuff preventing it.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Within code blocks, smilies should be suppressed. It does not make sense any other way!

That's right. The workaround for now is to disable Smilies for the whole post.
