Penguin

Why do some penguin beside the messages have "?" and others don't?

It means you have read that message, or that your session has 'read' that message. It's similar to the down arrow in the blue box, it will take you to the first message not read by you, which should have a ? in it's belly

Cool

Mm, I read your message, and reloaded the page, twice... went in the forums and click mark all messages as read... closed the konqueror session...

There is still an "?" on the penguin... ummm... Except of course in the "http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/index.php" page...

What what about the file icon right beside it?

I'm just curious

? You mean the envelope?

That shows what threads you've posted in, read, or are really active, depending on which icon. I just looked around and can't find the page that used to tell you what these icons all meant, but there was one that existed for a better explaination that I can give.

Wait, I'm an idiot. Just remembered that the envelopes are for noting what's been read et al, but the Tux's are for who's online. Wish I could find that page for ya, it's more helpful than my weak memory!

Cool

Aha, found part of one...

Check the bottom of the main forum page, it shows what the Tux's mean for the general display.

Inside a thread though, they mean who's online and who's not, hover your mouse...

Cool

ahhh

I remember what the icons mean (I think), but now I get it... So the tux in the forum's page is for what forum has unread messages... the tux beside this message is for who is online...

nice, thanks
