Penetrating markets with Linux and OSS based systems
If Linux and OSS are to gain further market share it might be useful to have a forum which exchanges knowledge and ideas on what is being achieved in different market segments in different countries. For instance Education is a market which in the UK is dominated by Microsoft and proprietary applications with only a few applications like Moodle having significant market share. Schools can ill afford the licencing and hardware costs (although Government grants encourage spending on SW and HW and not on services - which blocks FLOSS). Linux and FLOSS using thin client can save schools about £80,000 pa mainly in administration costs.
Meanwhile I believe in France Linux and OSS is mandated and in Australia it is encouraged by some states.
Does anyone else think this is a good idea for Linux Questions?
