What might be nice would be if the image were a link to the distro's homepage (or the LQWiki article), unless it's the generic tux, of course.

ERrrm guys, look at any threads on general, the logo seems to be coming up twice. Maybe a glitch?

I've moved the icon to be inline with the other post-related icons.

I see no weirdness in /General but maybe it's been fixed?

@jeremy: I think it looks neater/better there, in-line with the others.

Exactly - I don't want people in forums to disregard my posts because I happened to do them from my company provided Windoze workstation.

Jeremy - great feature. As several posters have said, it might be worthwhile to have an override (perhaps on a per-IP basis, if that's not a pain?), but this will save a lot of time that would otherwise be wasted on 'We can't help you if we don't know what distro you're running!' posts.

One thing, though: Would it be possible to change the Fedora icon to the infinity/f logo (like this - I'd be happy to track down or make a smaller version for you if you need it)? Right now it's a red hat, which is a little confusing.

Is CentOS supported? FF in CentOS has a few options in useragent:
Code:
general.useragent.extra.firefox;CentOS/Firefox/3.0.12
general.useragent.vendor;CentOS
general.useragent.vendorSub;3.0.12-1.el5.centos
...and I still get Tux

I just noticed this too. I'm mostly relieved that this hasn't been going on for months without me seeing it!

I like it - it's kinda cool
As some people pointed out already, a few of us post during quiet minutes at work, or from a work sanctioned VM

I like it. I am posting with linux Mint. So we will see if that works. Can anyone tell me if using say Linux Mint would I need to surrond the options with double quotes due to spacing or does it matter?

Oh how easily am I amused.

I'd guess quotes are not needed.. But test over Here and try "mint" by itself (minus the quotes of course)..

Then again, we don't yet know what-all OS's exactly are recognized.
