on double posting....

there seems to be a small increase in the ammount of of doulbe posting in the forums lately... i was thinking a way to solve this would if possible set it to allow you to post your thread to various relevant forums, but link to the same discussion to keep everything in the same place, basically like symbolic links
such as LinuxQuestions.org>forums>hardware>nic questions --> LinuxQuestions.org > Forums > networking>nic questions so even though it appears in multiple forums, it's really the same threadID therefore only appears once in the 'new threads' or 'with 0 posts' thread

i don't even know if this is possible, just my

Most of the time if a mod closes a double posting, we add the link if its their first warning. If someone does it more than once and they have been warned before, usually no link to their other thread will be made.

Number one reason we don't make a link in the forums if a thread has been moved or its a double posting, well that would work to the double posters advantage and probably make them do it more since its going to link to one of their threads they posted in. We don't need forums full of links.

Cheers.

I find double posts to be annoying when I go through looking for questions to answer. Multiple posts all linked to the same answer thread would still be almost as annoying. If Linuxquestions expends any effort on the multiple post problem I recommend that the work be done on preventing someone from entering a duplicate post.
