New OS identifier for Windblows 8

If I'm running windows 8, how come my OS identifier is displaying windows_98_nt_2000? Has there not been a new badge created as of yet?

I noticed this also. Win8 user agent string was odd for me, so I'm not sure how easy it is to identify. That may just have been because I use a trial version and can only get 32 bit IE to run though.

More "first world problems".

Valid point, I was using firefox 32bit. This post is back on IE for windows 8. By default when a different browser is used it goes to the desktop 32bit version. Now this is a test post using IE, here goes nothing. . .

Looks like there is no difference!

I'm guessing it just goes by the "Windows NT" part of the user agent string. This is the user agent string I get using Firefox under Windows 8 (are there any 64 bit browsers for Windows 8?).
Code:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20130323 Firefox/22.0

Well a quick google search brought up a ton of stuff including THIS. But I can wait until an official stable release is announced by Mozzila.

Where would I get the user agent info, is that in the page source?

To display your user agent you can go somewhere like:

Thankfully my Win8 install is just in a VM for testing purposes so I, too, can wait fro a 64b bit browser. Seems strange to me though that Windows is so slow to move to 64 bit when Linux has been going that way for ages.

Windows 8 should now be recognized.
