My profile suddenly says "contributing member," but I haven't signed up

I decided to sign up anyway--I've been thinking about it for some time, but I feel as if I got a compliment I don't deserve.

Later: I just tried to sign up to contribute and got a "duplicate transaction" error.

Now, I'm truly puzzled.

Same happened to me. It's to do with posting in that thread about LQ turning 14.

Jeremy in his kindness was giving it away to (I think, random) posters.

I'm pretty much speechless.

Well, I signed up anyway. I hope it renews next year. This place is as close to a second home as I got.

Yep, it is by far my most often visited website ever.

Since I realized that I had learned enough about Linux that maybe I could help others (and LQ was a big part of that learning), I've been here almost every evening.

Kind strangers helped me when I started with Linux and I am happy to pay it forward--and I've also found that trying to answer questions is a darned good way to learn new stuff. Jeremy and this place make that possible on what is, I think, the friendliest Linux place on the web.

(I won't mention that I watch old television shows and movies on that other computer over there while I do . . . .)

Thanks you both for your participation at LQ and kind words in this thread. Much appreciated.
