Multible subjects in one thread
 

I have noticed a few threads with different subject questions and without posting the solution to the OP. Most of these are asked by the OP after a few posts were made to the prior question. A couple were made by a another member.

Problem:
How do we tag these threads?
How many tags are we allowed to use?
When referring to a thread for reference is it okay to say 'Check out the fifth post on the second page'.
Why do a Search, the solution is not there.

Cause: Thank You buttons????
In my opinion the Thank You buttons are good.
Have they made posters too cautious that they do not want to remind OP 'Please post a solution to your prior question and post this question in a new thread'.

Solutions:????

IMHO,there will always be LQ newbies/members that wan't do what they are supposed to do,by LQ rules/guidance or by some sense of proper behavior on web sites such as this one.All we can do is to try to remind them how they should behave so that everybody will benefit from it.
I guess we should tag them as we see fit,but that's only if there is some kind of a solution on the thread.

I don't think there's a limit on how much tags can be used for a thread,but maybe Jeremy will make this clearer.

When referring to a thread for reference I belive it's OK to post a link to the thread that has a solution,and if necessary to say "check out the fifth post on the second page",alright,if that will help someone to find a solution faster.

Don't forget that each post in a thread is automatically numbered, & that the number is itself a clickable & copyable link.

For instance, Alan's post is "#2", & if I right click & "Copy Link Address" (Konqueror), I get:

So to reference it I wouldn't refer to pages at all, especially since posts per page is a variable set by each user, but rather "thread 697915, post #2"; or better, "thread 697915, post #2" -- note that in the 2nd form I took the time to make the "#2" a link.
