Motorola Content Overlays the website when using browser on windows
I have accessed this site from my wife's Windows XP computer.
The purpose is to set some informative bookmarks to use when I am doing a new install of slackware on my workstation. On both Internet Explorer and Firefox - the following is occurring: Content advertising or representing Motorola - I think coming from flash is overlaying the site, making it almost unworkable. Is anyone else having this problem? It is terrible! I am not having this problem on my own slackware workstation. |
It happens with other browsers/OS's as well. I set adblock to block just that ad server. As much as I do not want to block ads on this website, I have to, to make it work. Another thing you can do, is log in, and most of the ads will go away.
BTW, I reported this post so it will be moved, and looked at by those that might be able to further investigate the issue, and perhaps fix it :) |
What ad server is serving this ad? I'll make sure it's removed ASAP. Thanks.

I cannot duplicate this---even after clearing cookies and opening LQ without logging in.

HOWEVER ;) It's only when it serves the Motorola ad. What happens, is on hover over, the ad expands, and takes up a good deal of monitor space. On smaller resolution screens the X to close the enlarged window is off screen. I've attached a shot of the ad working. But I've personally been bitten by that ad in Firefox, Seamonkey, and Google Chrome. Tried to get the ad to appear again, but got tired of hitting refresh. Konqueror also locks up on the front page unless google.analytics is blocked. |
It's definitely not related to Google analytics, which doesn't serve ads. I think I've narrowed down the ad server it's coming from, and have disabled it until I can ensure the campaign has been removed. Thanks for the feedback.
