and what is your favorite website for man pages for linux?

If I recall correctly, they were removed a few updates ago because they weren't really being used.

We removed them well over a year ago as a result of the code being old (and broken) coupled with low usage. This is the very first time I can recall someone inquiring. If the demand is there we'd be happy to look into a new solution, but I can't imagine that'll be the case. Thanks for the feedback.

So that's what happened.

I tried to use them recently, got some kind of "not found" error, & moved on to http://linux.die.net/man/.

Instead of a broken link, I suggest a stub web page:
  • Thanking viewers for their interest.
  • Explaining the removal -- low usage, duplication, etc.
  • Linking to this thread for further comment.
  • &, most important, providing 3 to 7 links to alternatives.
