And I just noticed my reputation got increased to 55. It is being really nicely displayed in the User CP !

Two notes:

* As a large number of Senior Members are actively participating in this thread and all current bugs have been addressed, it's possible I'll move to the next stage of the rollout sooner than anticipated. I'd really like to maximize feedback on this feature.

* Some of the more advanced integration and functionality (such as the tie-in with "Did you find this post helpful?") have not been enabled yet as I'm trying to roll things out in a way that simplifies bug fixing and minimizes concurrent changes.

Isn't The "Silver symbol" on the posts a kinda *repetitive* feature then ?

The system has been enabled for members in the Senior Members usergroup.

OK now I understand it was for adding reputation, actually till now it was shown only on my posts thats why I got confused.

Is it desirable to have the reputation icon shown on the first post?

I can't think of a good reason. It could be (mis?)used to give someone some negative reputation because s/he doesn't know how to ask a question, which I personally don't think is right (s/he needs to be told, but not this way).

I personally think the add reputation button is too near to other icons (the system icon and the online/offline penguin). Anyway, I cannot think of a better way to show it among the many other user's details, right now... unless some text/symbol/icon is placed immediately after the reputation marks. I post an example in attachment.

@colucix: I agree, but must immediately add that both the "dot(s)" and the rep icon should be clearer and easier to interpret.

Just about all the people have 1 green dot, so everybody basically has the same rep (it might take a while to discover that you need to hover over it and some might never notice this). It will take ages to make a distinction about who has some kind of reputation.

Why not just keep the same style as the Posts/Blog entries, with an extra "add" tag after it?

We have no immediate plans to change the UI, although it's some we will definitely re-evaluate after the system is fully rolled out and tested. I'm still not sure that the "Reputation: 49" style layout is any better than what we currently have (although I do admit that until the system has a little use, the fact that many members have the same color single dot is not ideal).

So other than "more is better", is there some sort of scale that I should be referencing as this gets further along? Like reputation < 35 is bad, generally unhelpful, 35 - 100 is average, etc.

I think there is a big distinction between a green dot, which could be anything from 1 to 100 (and later on in steps of 200) or one specific number.

And secondly the hovering problem, on every post one needs to hover the mouse over the green icons !

I don't think so; more likely what will become important is the number in relation to other members' (which is why I think the current dots system will have advantages as the system matures).
