LQ Downtime

LQ was down for about 30-45 minutes today as a result of a problem with our provider. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are looking into why exactly this happened and what we can do to avoid the issue in the future (including evaluating new providers).

I think there are still problems. I asked for the zero reply threads. The first 6 zero reply posts have titles but no text.

P.S. When I posted this message there was about a five minute wait while nothing happened. During the wait I submitted it a second time. I notice that there are other double posts where people are submitting twice.

There's also a message from me that was double-posted, although I only submitted it once. There was a lengthy wait, btw. I did report it before I saw this thread.

Cheers

I was fixing some corruption, but things should be fairly stable now. I will have to re-sync one of the slave DB's at once point, but that should not cause any downtime for the site. The search will be behind until I do so. I once again apologize and thank everyone for their understanding. The uptime and performance of LQ is something we take very seriously.

Related: I've replied to a thread (this one) but it shows with 0 replies on the Debian forum page. My reply, and the subsequent reply on that, is present and readable. I doubt this'll be the only thread having this issue...

Not a problem, Jeremy. I recall a few years ago when I couldn't even log onto the internet for 6 hours because of a 15 minute DoS attack against Yahoo and affiliates. It's still the internet... s@#t happens.

Cheers

The slave server caught up overnight, so searches should be real-time again. If you notice any other new issues after 10am LQST, please do let me know.

As of this moment the thread is still as it was when reported. Local time is 2.45 AM Amsterdam==Berlin==Paris time==GMT+1h, 6 hrs ahead of New York. I'm sorry, I have no idea what LQST is... (LQ standard time, OK . But where's LQ located on the map )

Thanks for caring Jeremy!

Unfortunately some counter information got lost during the time period of the outage. I've manually fixed the thread in question. I'm in New York, so LQST === EDT

I just posted to a "Zero Reply Thread" and after I posted when I hit the "back" browser it took me back to the "Post Reply" instead of the "Zero Reply Threads". I can see if a person was half asleep he might double post.
