Hi,

It's not possible to jump to the latest post from the View Latest Posts pages and the Zero Reply Threads page (button in last post column). You'll end up with this error message: No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

View New Posts, main forum page and the specific forum pages (did not try all) seem to work.

BTW: Overall performance seems to have improved.

Smileys

Konqueror
I am running Konqueror 3.5.3 & 3.3.2 & (on separate boxen), & am observing the same duplicate Smilies hogging about 30% of the reply entry area.

There is gap about 2 smiley columns wide between the RH smilies & the RH nav. column.

The animated "NEWBIE" smiley is causing its column to be 3-4 times as wide as the others. If it had its own row, that would save screen real estate.

3.5.2 update: When I clicked on "Preview Post", the LH Smilies dissappeared & the gap I described is now a little wider than the "Preview Post" & "Spell Check" buttons combined. I am taking a screen shot.

Opera
I am also running Opera 9.22 & 9.01 (on the same separate boxen).

On both, the duplicate Smilies take over the reply entry area. I have screen shots of both.

EDIT: Added link to 1st screen shot, fantastically easy:
  • highlighted "screen shot",
  • pasted the URL,
  • & saved.

Unfortunately, I couldn't upload the screen shots for Opera -- the normal flickr upload page (5 pics at a time) doesn't work for me. The only reason I managed to get that one up, was that I stumbled onto a single pic upload that I now can't find. Anyone know where it is, or suggest a better place to stash screen shots?

[ LIST ] blocks
[ LIST ] blocks just aren't working for me in Konq. 3.5.3 -- When I went to create the one above, it put the outside tags in the correct spot, but interspersed the list elements into the 1st lines of my post. Not too big a deal, the old LQ "List" didn't work in Konq. 3.3.2, so I have been hand generating them anyway.

The duplicate smilies and missing Distribution field issues have been fixed. Thanks for the feedback - please keep it coming.

the quote / code box background colour isn't the opposite of the post box any more.

Just to clarify, for me the colours are reversed for the grey backgrounded posts, but not for the blue ones.

A couple of things I've noticed.

The new "View Post" functionality for Quotes seems to be missing a gif. Iceweasel, does not complain, it appears as a regular link, but Konqueror is adamant that there should be a gif there. Namely http://linuxquestions.cachefly.net/i...s/viewpost.gif

Secondly there are mysterious moved thread links appearing. Look in Linux - Software, there are three moved threads next to each other. The last posts were back in 2003. Slightly odd?

EDIT: They are not the only ones either, there is another in Linux - General from 2004, might be others around too.

Jeremy: is it possible to make the message field (when replying) bigger (particularly wider), like it was before the code change?
One more thing: when editing my existing post, and I'm going to advaced mode, the spell check button is not there any more (when just creating a new post, its there, when editing: not there). Could you put it back? Thanks.

Well, good to know that I wasn't just imagining things. I was sure the Quote and Code boxes used to alternate the background color; now they are just stuck on blue.

I also agree that the editor window for replying should be made a bit larger, though I can live with it if need be.

True, the LH smiley block is gone; but the space it occupied has been shifted left & is still wasted.

Also, there the Opera problems are still there: Opera 9.22

Still a problem. Here is an example showing same color (blue) on both quote and code.

Post boxes seem to have a minimum size of about 7-8 lines. If you post a 2 line comment, it leaves 5 lines worth of blank space.

Last time I looked, a search on "My posts" was not updating the post count. (It's still not, or at least it's taking an awfully long time.)

I just tried to reply to a post by hitting "quote." I am using a 800x600 screen. The resulting edit box plus the "smilie box" to the right together took up only about 2/3 of the available width, leaving me with a really narrow edit box (maybe 250 pixels wide).

My sympathies on the 800x600 screen -- I am finally luxuriating in a 1280x800 (wide screen) display.

I don't know enough about HTML & CSS to sure, but I strongly suspect that putting the "Smilies" box back in its original position would help your problem as well as mine w/ Opera.

New Issues
The "View Post" link on ignore-list hidden messages now un-hides them in-line instead of in a separate window. This is a "Good Thing (tm)" except that there is no "Re-hide" link. True, a simple screen refresh (F5, for me) will restore the original appearance, but that that is hardly an intuitive fix.

While I am on the subject of hiding, what about the following additional standard links/buttons on each individual post:
  • Hide this post
  • Hide this sig block
  • Hide this Code:/Quote: block
Any of the above can detract from the flow of & ability to understand a thread. The ability to block the material a reader considers distracting would not only enhance the reader's experience, but possibly result in more & better answers being posted.

I understand that there must be a lot going on getting the upgrade working right, but I hope these will be considered when there is time.

The Konqueror wide "Code" block/horizontal scroll issue is not corrected, as I believe was promised in an earlier thread.
(Recap of problem: "Code" blocks wider than the screen do get displayed w/ individual horizontal scroll bars, but they scroll only a few pixels & are so wide they trigger a horizontal scroll bar for the whole browser window. I believe the point of them is to avoid a scroll bar for the whole window, so they are not serving their purpose. BTW, this does not happen in Opera.)

Report LQ Bug system not working

Earlier today, I tried submitting a bug (regarding a MySQL error in the Reviews section) and I noticed the bug reporting mechanism on LQ is not working.

I have already sent an e-mail to david_ross with details about this problem, by using the Contact Info in his LQ profile. I hope that is OK.

Unfortunately that was before I discovered this thread announcing a code upgrade, and also before I discovered that the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page has an option for reporting bugs.

I therefore think it might be helpful to place a short instruction somewhere on the bug reporting page, on what to do in case of a problem with the bug reporting system itself.

I hope that helps.
