Keep in mind that we do make it more difficult to reply to older threads: The Quick Reply is disabled and there is a large bold red notification on the new post page that says "Please note that this thread has not been replied to in over 6 months. Please ensure your reply is still relevant and timely."

That being said, we're certainly open to ideas to further reduce accidental or off-topic posts to older threads.
