Is there a live chat for this website?
If so, how do I get to it?

If not, is there a newbie irc channel where oldbie's answer questions?

No live chat, a search would have brought many results.

Try irc.freenode.net channel #linuxhelp

Always lots of people using it. And quite frankly, if you have questions, just ask them here, sometimes its just or even faster getting replies as most there are there to chat, not ask questions.
