Had to fire de Niro, he couldn't do an Oldham accent. Got Daniel Craig instead - he's uglier than me, but good in the fight scenes.

busily putting such videos out on YouTube, and we will soon see them leading the hit parade of popular videos there
So if anyone does want to make a video, YouTube can handle hosting and streaming the videos. Then the person just needs to post a link to it here.

My local LUG have most of the talks given at the meetings posted up on Google Video, with just the links sent out or on the wiki. Then again, I guess this still doesn't solve the issue of mod time.

Cheers,
Steve

Sounds nice, but it might be too time/hardware consuming. It might help, but text tutorials can be just as effective. I find it annoying when you can't understand what someone says in a tutorial, or when they move too fast. You read text at your own rate, and you don't have to rewind/pause it constantly. I would have to say no.

And SteveK has an idea that works fine. Users upload videos to YouTube, and you could make a page linking to them. Wouldn't take much effort or time, and next to no space.

+1 for YouTube, I say LQ just makes a channel on there and tries to post a few new videos each day and posts a minimal requirement for submitting a video, though YT's quality isn't too great usually.

I may not contribute myself but I think it would be interesting and very helpful in some cases. Some times it's better to see something being done with a GUI and actually see it.

There's also http://ubuntuclips.org/

I'd make screen captures of me doing things on Linux using xvidcap, but it'd be too much of a hassle to edit/clean up and upload. Youtube is a good idea, except that the quality of the uploaded video takes a hit when youtube processes it.

I once posted a simple video tutorial in GIMP. I might do something similar if I feel that a problem is worth documenting.

archive.org? We should just ask the children and old people "if" this's a good idea (I hate explaining 'howto' more than thrice)
But linuxquestions should definitely not host such a thing >I think

Thumbs down

What if the youtube stopped operation / went bankrupt / got hacked afterwards? linuxquestions.org tutorials are lost!

Not really a bad idea, it's just not very practical, considering you can, say, go to Ubuntu.com, type what you're trying to do in the search box, and get a step-by-step tutorial that includes screen shots.

If LQ had a backup of all the videos offline then it doesn't matter if YT goes out, I'm sure there will still be some other video hosting site to upload everything on to.

In support of Linux Video Tutorials Excellent example - urdu cbts

My Dear Friends

I love LINUX what ever the users of windows say the configurations and terminals and no support for drivers which are coming in the market whether i.e your phone, or isp with usb datacard (wifi) or broadband through dsl modems etc.,

Why because it has the capability to customize and get it done. You can not say impossible. Everything is possible and get it done.

Earlier i dont know how to install or recover the system which crashed totally. Really at that time i messed with the files. so, dumb no clue what to do. Searched for the solution here and some other googling.

I found one person on the web i.e Muhammad Kamran Azeem form Pakistan.

ofcourse Iam from india, most of the times i hate that country may be because of past incidents or what is going on presently. (ok this is not the discussion, also there are people like me good ha ha ha ha)

So, one day iam going through his website and really shocked sorry you can say happy with shock such a huge videos explaining elaborately each and every thing, no retakes all the mistakes he has done and corrected shown not like other people cbt's what happens when people makes mistakes. and it is good that is in urdu language ( i understand little bit) even though i learned all the subjects of Squid, Terminal Server, FTP, telnet, and every thing he touched and shown there.

On that day i decided i also should help others in contributing such good things to all for free.

http://www.wbitt.com/

So, I want our linuxquestions.org to start such a excellent work. We have huge network excellent contributors. and experts dont forget.

Why not we the next generation youtube or google or android

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...x-poll-657162/

I love to know more cbts like these people where we can learn from the experts for free like opensource........

I mean to say why not linuxquestions.org register a user in Youtube or Metacafe or any Video Provider So that we no need of bandwidth or space. Just upload the stuff and enjoy. or think of the community users who are around that.

That is my idea, not to start our own servers.

When one comes with great idea we can put it there by which one can implement very fast

like www.wbitt.com

where this person is teaching entire linux tutorials in his own language. Which helped more and more. Excellent video where he did not miss or cut the video he makes mistakes at practical time. Which also helped us what mistakes we generally do and stuck there.

hats off to those people who always share there ideas and knowledge with all of us.

Thanks to the www.linuxquestions.org whenever i stuck in the linux just i come here and finding the solution. (Need some knowledge always to understand you can say prerequisite)

My Windows friends who are working with me always stun that i got the solution

thanks to all, hope if all the users agree and our op soon we can see the videos like

configuring things always confusing for newbie.
