LinuxQuestions IRC Room?

Is there a LinuxQustions IRC Chat server and channel available?
I know I'd like an IRC room where I could go and ask questions more freely then even asking questions on a forum..

I see this is in the wrong forum, if a moderator could please move it to just General, please?

Well, apart from it sounding like a slap in the face ("I'd like somewhere I could go and ask questions more freely than asking questions on a forum") there are a number of Linux IRC sites that some people here visit regularly. As far as I am aware, there is not a specific LQ IRC site/room.

1. Moved. In the future if you report the post to moderator next to the post reply in bottom right hand of your post, it will notify us faster instead of replying to it, etc.

2. Asked all the time and no, there is no LQ IRC chat room.

3. Reasons are, we don't want members to ask questions there. The forums are also a database of answers and solutions to questions, if you ask in IRC it is not recorded and does not help the next newbie that uses our Search feature. We don't want to take away what could be asked in an IRC channel from being asked in the forums.

4. If there ever was an LQ IRC channel, it would be strictly for gathering purposes, not asking questions, etc, but from our previous posts in members asking this, there will never be a LQ IRC channel from our standpoints right now on the issue.

Regards.

You mean newbies use a search function to find an answer to a question

*GASP* I deny that!

What I don't understand is the ones who come and post what could have taken them 5 to 10 minutes to write out and post but yet they probably would have found the answer which has already been asked dozens of times in a matter of typing a few words and then clicking that search button.

Then they take it offensively not understanding why when we ask them to try searching..

......... only a simple observation, but on average, questions tend to get answered to some degree of success pretty quickly round here anyway - probably wouldn't get much in the way of an "improvement" via IRC.

irc help

only in irc do you get help in realtime.

You get help in realtime here as well. Majority of the time right after a member posts a question there will be several or even more reading it almost instantly, sometimes even getting replies within a minute or so.
Then your question and answers are all recorded here, in the big database so you can easily go back and review it again if necessary.
To me, forum has its advantages over IRC..... and yet, LQ.org will still never have an IRC channel.
