I just wrote my first linux answer :)


it didnt post right away, is there a screening process in place? i would assme so....


Would it be perferable, or frowned upon, to place the same information on the wiki as the answer form, to increase accesibility? is the answer forum going away to be replaced by the wiki eventually?

The Linux Answers/Tutorials are seperate from the Wiki. Tutorials don't get posted immediately, they are first screened and vetted - believe me, if they were posted immediately the whole Tutorial area would be a mess.

Hint to anyone reading: do not post a question in the Tutorial area.

Also, the Wiki will not replace the LinuxAnswers section. They address different issues and we are committed to both for the long term.

Lets see, I guess the answers are "set in stone" like a textbook- reviewed and vetted. Info found there is "fact" the wiki, however, is more alive and growing- like a weed. Info found there should be taken with a pinch of salt (but its up to date)

so, any response on dual posting an answer and in the wiki?

Information can absolutely be placed in both - in fact, I'd say it's very much encouraged.

I would also suggest trying to cross link the two - ie:
On the LA - "Click here for a working version with user added notes"
On the Wiki - "Click here for an edited final draft"

Obviously an updated LA could then be submitted once there is significant positive change to the wiki article. This would also involve the LA submitter tidying up the formatting and ensuring that the guide works and is easy to follow.
