Question Linux/390


Any interest in a Linux/390 forum?

i severly doubt that. My university was given a z390 by IBM and they've still not managed to find a use for it other than an industrial space heater

Lets see there is server consolidation; web hosting; lan backup;
file sharing; etc... to name a few uses.

oh yeah, never said there weren't any uses, they just already had all of that, then got given this machine...

I'm a Linux newbie and we've just installed suse Linux on an IBM mainframe. We're trying to implement z/VM Linux running WebSphere and DB2. Right now I'm just struggling with getting a X-Windows environment to work with cygwin.

Don't know anything about it.But I think debian has at least a mailing list for 390's.

I don't know that there are enouh people out there using Linux on a Z series to make the forum worthwhile. I would be surprised if more than two dozen people on these forums have ever worked on a 390 more or less in Linux on a 390.

That said I would be interested.
