Kill the monkey!

I don't know how much money those "Shock the monkey" ads might bring you, but they get annoying. Are they actually a source of money for you? If they were GIFs, they wouldn't be so bad. Then they'd stop when I hit escape. Because, whatever type they are, take long to load, and make the pages lag. Unless people click on them alot, what I am suggesting, before I go insane (too late), is, if you, well, wait. Let me guess, it's just a banner ad program, right? You can't choose. God dang it! Out of the things I lost, I miss my sanity the most. Oh well. Never mind. I'll go crawl in a hole now.

Written on the fly.

They wish he was fast. (Unless you're being honest and happen to have a fast computer)

woohoo!!! i'm glad to see that my ever-important vote pushed the "i don't care" contingency safely into the lead, (by a vote of 2-1-0).

banner ads are a necessary evil. it takes money to run websites. if this was two years ago, jeremy could just make an ipo, take it public, and make millions; but, alas, that era is past. if it takes a shocked monkey or two to keep this site up, i'm all for it.

I'll be honest, the monkey does make a little money (The CTR on that thing in nuts). That being said, this is you're forum. If the census is that the monkey (a java applet) is a pain I will remove it. I have tried to keep annoying banners and popups off this site, but as isajera said - it takes money to run a site. So I leave it up to you, my members, to decide the monkeys fate.

Ok, you should all be ashamed of yourselves, talking so badly about his monkey, staring at it and such. A man's monkey is his own business. And if he gets too naughty, I'm sure he'll spank him. hehehe

What is wrong here, can a web master not shock or spank is own monkey with out our approval. If spanking or shocking my money pays for you to all come to my house, than so be it.

I hate that damn monkey though. But if it/ he/she helps I can over look him.

The monkey is one of my favorite banner adds. Compared to some others, it is banner add royalty.

monkey

I wouldn't mind the monkey so much if it weren't a java applet. Don't get me wrong, I love java. It's what I program in all day long. I wish it were just a simple jpg or gif.

Micropayments would be an interesting, if possible, option for generating revenue to run a site. I'm pretty sure not everyone would agree though. Jeremy, if you don't mind me asking, can you give a ballpark figure as to how much this site costs per month after ad revenue comes in? (granted that you can even get the revenue from some ad companies)

Keep the Monkey!

I hate that monkey - but I dig this site enough to overlook it. Without this site I'd still be trying to set up my damn modem! So if it pays, keep it!

Rock on,
)Matt.

DO NOT GET THE TIPS!!!

A while back ago, I tried to do the 'golden tips' thing. They wan't your e-mail address. IF YOU GIVE THEM THE E-MAIL ADDRESS, YOU WILL GET PORNOGRAPHIC SPAM!!!!!! If you like pornographic spam, then go for it, but if you don't, then, well, don't put your e-mail address in. I had to change my e-mail address because the porn wouldn't stop comming! AND I DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR IT!!!!!!!
