iptables rules tester

Would be nice open an oline tester of firewall scripts for security auditing and debugging ... i dont' know if this is possible but maybe using an online netkit emulation where also the simulated network is showed and all the routing tables are emulated and debugged .... :Pengy:

I know that this is not what you are looking for, but netfilter developers often use User Mode Linux for debugging. You could make a virtual-machine-based to emulate on which to test it your ruleset, and then create a battery of tests against it from many angles. I don't know of anyone who's done this, but it might be a good project (for me, after I have free time ;))

Of course it might be over-kill when all you want to do is emulate a network.
