If I start a thread and meantime I find out the solution, what should I do?

It happened to me today and I just added an "EDIT" section after the question and wrote there the solution of the problem, so if someone reads it to see there is no need to answer any more.
I suppose it's possible to delete the thread, too. If yes, how do you do this?
In any case, what should I do if this happens to me in the future? Thank you.

I'd suggest that, unless the problem is one that you think no-one else is likely to come across, it would be good to leave the thread where it is, and post the solution. Your solution may help another user of the forum. It may also be a good idea to add the solution as a new post, so that notification is sent to anyone who has subscribed to the thread when you add your post.

Yours,
Rob

Correct - if you solve your own problem it would be great if you share it here at LQ, so that you may help others who run into the same problem.

A new post in the thread is good, as it alerts... don't just edit, or even worse, edit the whole thing saying "it's ok, I fixed it" - this is really annoying for future problem solvers....
