Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

View Poll Results: Is it a good idea to have a live chat
Distribution: Ubuntu 11.4,DD-WRT micro plus ssh,lfs-6.6,Fedora 15,Fedora 16
this has been suggested many times, there are reasons why there isn't a live chat, the main one being it's difficult to log live chats in any useful way, which is counter productive to the purpose of this site.
Personally, I hope live chat never happens here. One of the most useful features of LQ (at least to me) is that it leaves a record of the discussion. I rarely have to ask questions here since the vast majority of my confusion can be cleared up by searching. The saved live chat sessions I've stumbled across are never as detailed or easy to follow. I'm sorry, but if you need help so badly you need real-time answers, maybe you should be buying support.
