i got one

the linux general forum: why is it there? doesnt everything fit in another category? and doesnt everything that fits in anither forum fit into linux general?
example: you want to look at software threads so you look in software forum but then you got to spend more time looking in general cause someone might have put one there. if you like to answer questions of a certain nature then the general forum is a pain in the butt.

We have it there for those threads that might either belong in more than one forum or for those that just don't know what forum to place it in. You should see that I do try to move the most obvious threads to a more appropiate forum most of the time, but like it says, its just a General forum for Linux questions.

That's the problem though, I gaurantee the first day without just a Linux General forum, we'll get hit with demands for one. If you look at most every other forum, and anytype of forum, they all have a General forum. It sort of just balances things out a bit.

well theory and practise are seldom related... people already tend to pick randomly enough at the moment.

I'm sure that it might be a possibility if you were to nominate yourself to sort these threads into suitable forums... 16606 threads... say 100 per hour....
