How to change the subject line of Thread with "Solved" ?
How to change the subject line of a thread as "SOLVED : The xyz problem I was facing"?
I tried to change it with editing the subject, in my first post, but it did not work. Regards Anindyanuri |
If it were possible, it would defeat the purpose of being able to search for a resolution to a problem. If all the questions that got answered were "SOLVED", then the search would lose some of its fuctionality. Yeah, it would still be able to search the body, but that takes more time and puts more load on the server.
My advice is to just put another post at the bottom of your thread or, edit the body of the post and put a line at the top and the notes that solved the issue are somewhere so everyone can reference the knowledge when we come across the same problem. |
Thank you for your opinion. I think moderators should think over the matter and to add another button marked as solved and change the database as required to find out the solved problems.

This seems to be more of a website suggestion rather than the "Linux-Software" forum. Mod will probably move it shortly

Still I expect that this post can be viewed by any of the moderators, and if he sends the message the purpose will be solved.
Anyway, your suggestion is appriciated. :) Regards anindyanuri |

Without rehasing the entire "solved/answered" topic, you can edit your original thread and update the Title field if you wish. (This will not change the title as it appears on the forum list, however, it will change the title when you are viewing that specific thread.)
Along these lines, I would encourage all LQ'ers to post a follow-up in your thread if/when you do find a solution to the original issue. Doing so will be a tremendous help to future readers who may have the same question, and will help make LQ an even better resource for the Linux community. -- J.W. |
