HCL updated
A quick note that the HCL has received a minor code update. It's mostly code cleanup, so you shouldn't notice a lot of functionality difference. If you notice any new bugs, please post in this thread ASAP. Thanks again goes to david_ross for the help.

Did some entries get deleted? I put in an entry for the Compaq 2190US laptop, and I don't see it anymore.
|
Nope, nothing should have gotten deleted. I see your entry here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/sh...p?product=2026

IDIOT attack on my part.
#1: Since the HCL has grown, there are now 3 pages of compaq laptops and I should have scrolled to the next couple pages #2: If I do a search on 2190us, I still don't bring it up. Not a problem now that I can get to it again. It brings up a lot of products (134 pages) so I guess it could be in there |
We talked off-line about the problem of my not seeing the “new product” button used to enter a new HCL review. For the others of the audience, jeremy provided me with the url link for the button and I was able to enter a review that way.
I still cannot see the button, so here is some additional feedback about the problem. Let me start with “Something is screwy with the cookie usage” with regard to the HCL. The HCL “new product” button is not visible from FireFox with either WinXP (which has a very heavy Norton filter) or through three different unfiltered FC3 installations, all behind a simple linksys router. Using the url jeremy provided, my first attempt to use the url was meet with a request to log on, which I already was. I entered my userID and password in the provided space and pressed the “submit” button, which were the only things being displayed. The response was something to the effect of “provide a manufacture”, which is what I eventually saw when submitting the actual review, but forgot to enter the manufacturer. The second attempt to use the url gave me the HCL review entry page, which included the “new product” button, and everything seemed to work fine from there, until I noticed a few days later that I could not log out while on-line. I checked my user profile, which was correctly configured to allow me to log off while on-line. After several attempts to log off, I deleted all “linuxquestions.org” and “www.linuxquestions.org” cookies from Firefox and then successfully logged off. Something tells me that this problem only manifest itself for we users who tend to lurk in the background and only log-in when we post. I still cannot see the “new product” submission button on the HCL pages, which is not currently an issue for me, but may be for others. |
We'll look into the missing button issue. Is this happening to anyone else?
--jeremy |
Regarding the missing “new product” button, today when I looked in the HCl, the button was present in Firefox on XP and FC3 boxes. Yeah!
|
We did indeed make a small change on our end. The problem affected a small number of members, so hopefully we'll see a small increase in HCL submissions ;)
