Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

What is the matter with these forums? I registered as soon as I found this site back in April and have not witnessed 1 flame war.
I have not been able to get my laughs watching two dimwits going at it in a flame war over distro/knowledge level/social skills/hair style/windows v linux/weather/parentage... I am going back to some news groups to get my fix.
Seriously though these forum's are the best resource for linux answers I have come across in the three years I have been playing with linux. This site is my first stop and quite often my the only place I need to go to get the answers I am looking for.
Jeremy, how have you kept this site the friendliest linux q&a place on the net? What's your secret? A big stick? Do you think that 'bad' elements will creep in when it starts to get bigger?
If you notice in the General-Linux forum, I tend to close threads as soon as I see a problem that isn't solving anything for anyone.
This site is great and I am glad there aren't many wars out there. That is something we don't need here.
