Filtering out General

I don't know if this feature already exists, but would it possible to introduce a selectable filter where threads in General don't appear in e.g. "View New Posts", "Zero-Reply Threads" and "Latest Threads"?

These General threads haven't been too much a distraction in the past, but lately there seems to have been an upsurge in soapbox political threads which are starting to permeate the otherwise reasonable discussion and therefore are standing out more than before.

To be honest, the idea that Linux users can have a general thread in which to discuss religious and political issues isn't anathema to me (although I'd rather see it existing on another site, not on Linux Questions).

However, I come here to discuss Linux issues and so I'd rather not have the stuff that is posted in General adding an increasing noise to the signal when all I'm trying to do is find out the latest issues that Linux users are having with their systems and help out where I can.

For those saying that I am suggesting the censoring of General, that's not the case. All I'm asking for is a user-selectable setting that stops it interfering with the technical side by keeping its threads and posts out of "View New Posts" etc.

Does the 'Exclude Forums from "Get New Posts"' option at the bottom of Edit Options do what you want?

It DOES. Perfectly. I just tested it: I can eliminate any/ALL New/Latest Posts & ZRTs.
(doesn't 'stop' LQspy tho)

Sweet! Sorry that I hadn't noticed this setting before - it's just what I was looking for. Thanks ntubski.

Remember to mark 'Solved' (or don't be the last-poster) so it won't show up on [my] ANT list

:-D You're right, my apologies. Will do now.

As you correctly pointed out in your previous message, the setting also appears to affect Zero Reply Threads and View Latest Threads, so all is rosy!
