Question Curious search behaviour since changes?

Could someone explain if I'm missing something here?

Previously, it was my habit to do a "username" search to follow up on any thread or reply I'd made.

Now when I try that, I obviously have to go to the "advanced" search, and input my username, after that, when I hit enter it just seems to hang.

Is there something I should have set/changed for search criteria or maybe the server is slowing up ???

Any advice/suggestion is always greatly appreciated.

regards

John

You may find it easier to click the "My Posts" or "My Threads" buttons on the right hand side of the page (under My LQ about halfway down right now for me). Though, I think the search server is a bit underpowered; to answer your question.

Cool

The search server does get bogged down at times, but using the functionality MasterC described above will work out much better for you anyway.

Ha! How foolish of me too have missed that!

'Spose it's a case of "old habits........."

Though having tried the "my threads/posts" facilities, I do prefer the response from a "normal" search.

I'll try during the day and see how I get on (as I appreciate that when the US is "awake", some services etc on "your side of the pond" can slow up).

Cheers for the replies gents.

regards

John

We've made some additional improvements to the search today and are working on getting more hardware also. The situation has improved as a result of the recent upgrade and will improve further with the new hardware. Thanks for the patience.

Excellent!

Just tried the "username" search facility - which took a little while, but returned search results after about 30 seconds or so (unlike last night).
Which I thought was good, baring in mind that by now, the UK has been in their collective offices for maybe 7 hours, and I suspect that most of the US is also at work by now, so it would appear that your efforts have definitely paid off Jeremy.

As ever, keep at it my friend, you do a damn fine job.

regards

John
