couple of annoyances

I really love this site and all the people who volunteer their time just so Linux newbs and gurus can have somewhere to get questions answered, so I'll make my complaining short.

1. when I first joined this site I had selected the option to get an email every time a thread I posted in was replied to. anyways as soon as I posted in the "why use Linux instead of windows" thread I realized that my mailbox was quickly filling up. so I disabled that option, but to this day i still get a message every time someone posts in that thread cause I had the option on when I made the post.

2. I'm sure you've addressed this before, but I'm not exactly the worlds best speller and when I make a typo in the post title I cant change it (even if its one character)

1. You need to actually unsubscribe from the thread from within your UserCP, not just to not recieve email notifications in your options.

2. Unfortunately, only Jeremy can edit Titles. Not sure if he is going to change this or not, that will be up to him solely. Just try to make sure your title describes your problem at best along with the spelling before posting is my only suggestion.

Cheers.

I am almost positive that I was able to successfully edit a title yesterday. In fact, it was the Referrals one. I misspelled Referral. I hit the edit button about 10 seconds after I posted. I changed it and I thought it wasn't going to change, but it did.

:)

Peace,
David

It won't change the actual title that you see in the forums, only the one where it refers to it in the first post if you started the thread. If it did actually change the title, I'm suprised as its not suppose to allow you to or not update the main title, etc.

;)

I'll look into the first issue as it really should be fixed. trickykid is correct on the second issue. Thanks for the feedback.

I should have read this a bit closer. Changing the "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" option to No will not effect old notifications, it's only your default moving forward. You can either click the unsubscribe from all link or set "Allow LinuxQuestions.org To Send You Email Notices?" to No.

Are you folks saying that if I open up a thread, to which I had replied from my e-mail, and select Don't send e-mail notifications, I will still recieve e-mail notifications for that thread?

'Cause I did that a couple of times and I was not notified for it again.

The "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" setting does not change any past notifications, just the default moving forward. If you actually unsubscribe from a thread you will not receive any mail for the thread.

Yea, I just did not interpret the previous posts too well :D But, it's cool now.
