Unhappy Confused: Question for moderators

Hi,

I made a post about a problem that I have had while trying to install lame on my Linux machine, but the post has been deteted by a moderator.

I read the rules and don't understand why my post broke them - I searched the forum for info but couldn't find any. I just posted the error that I got to see if anyone could help, and as far as I can tell it was on topic and in the right forum where other people have posted for help.

If you can let me know what I said that was so wrong, I can remember not to do it again or try elsewhere.

Thanks

Moderators don't delete any posts unless they are obvious spam. The post you're looking for isn't any of the following?

Is it possible that perhaps you might have clicked on the "Preview Post" button rather than the "Submit New Thread" button? That would give the appearance of submitting a new thread, but not actually creating it.

As jeremy stated, it is extraordinarily rare that a thread is deleted; that would be just out of the question unless there was some kind of gross violation of the LQ Rules (eg massive and blatant spam, or wildly inappropriate subject matter) Otherwise, almost all mod actions consist of moving threads to a more appropriate forum, or closing duplicates. It's worth pointing out that this situation is a very positive reflection on the LQ community as a whole, who in my opinion are usually pretty serious and very dedicated. Overall, it's very seldom that a thread requires any kind of explicit mod intervention (apart from spammers, and occasional rookie errors such as double posting)

Just to add - even if a mod deletes something, I can see it. The above linked posts were the only ones in the system at the time I made that post.
