chit chat

Only been a member for a day or so. Haven't poke my nose in every nook or cranny yet. Don't seem to see a chat room. I have been known to be incorrect so please correct me if I am wrong, I am old but I don't bite, very often. I have found that sometimes a more direct human contact, even if it does not directly solve the problem, can ease the stress. Oh wait, that is that other OS(LOL).
regards shorty943.

LQ does not have a chat room. Chat room discussions are only useful to the participants of the room while the discussion is being conducted. In contrast, LQ discussions are saved forever, they're searchable, and they're classified by topic. Questions/answers in the LQ forums can help many people many times, as opposed to just one person, one time, in a chat room.

Plus the resources in getting someone to moderate a chat room is unreasonable for a site that is free and the moderators are not paid, we're volunteers. We have jobs outside of LQ you know to pay the bills..

Chats only work when there is someone else there at the same time- a forum, while working in "time delay" mode, can sometimes have chat-room style immediacy if someone is on when you are.

If you're looking for non-technical relief, try the general forum.
