Because Linuxquestions.org lives from questions and answers, that was the answer to your question that I read in the past. Others might find your contributions to this forum helpful in the future, as well as Reggae jokes. It would be a real pity if they vanished

Reason: Added a little more emphasis

I think kikinovak has explained it very well in other threads - the absence of PAM in Slackware is a showstopper for LDAP based authentication (as far as I understand it) and is therefore at some points a pita for his work, that means setting up and maintaining networks as well as teching students about such things.
Look, I'm as frustrated with the lack of Enterprise capability as you are, I even went so far as to look at how LFS managed to pull it off after the "Future of Slackware" bitch-fest (I mean, it can't be that hard, the frickin' Ubuntinites figured it out.) If you want to take on that project and need a "team", you got one guy ready to sign up.
Quitting... that's how you end up on a Mac babbling about "fit and finish", it's an ugly, ugly path, amigo. Reconsider.
Get yourself a glass of wine and listen to "Three Little Birds" for a couple of hours and maybe then we can get started on this PAM issue.
Is everything okay, my friend? I would like you to think about returning when you're ready. I will miss your wit and wisdom. I look forward to seeing you soon.
