can thread titles be changed?

I guess this must have been discussed before, but can the mods or Jeremy change thread titles? For instance if a mod happens to be answering one of those "Help Please" and "Stupid Newbie Question" threads, could s/he also rename the thread. Maybe send an automatic notice to the thread starter and others who responded to it. I guess this would be adding extra work to the already terribly over-worked mods, but there's no way anybody else could be allowed to do it. I was thinking if there was an option for members to suggest a new title for one of these threads, than it could be done at Jeremy's or the mods' convenience later. Is this just too much work? Or, is the belief that threads and posts should be saved forever in their original state prevalent (this is valid, IMO)?

Thank you,

Currently only Jeremy has the ability to change the actual thread title. As this is something brought up quite often for mods to have the ability, I think its something Jeremy is reviewing. This is one reason we try to explain to others, create good titles and it benefits all members, those who search, answer questions and so on.

Cheers.

I see. Thanks for the reply.

For now only I have the ability, but as trickykid said it will likely be available to mods at some point. For now, if you think a title should be changed you should report the post. Thanks.

All right, cool. Thanks, Jeremy.

i think this would be a good thing, so we could change the title to or add resolved or fixed or something similar to our post. not only will it let people know your issue has been resolved, but maybe there is a solution in there as well that others can try.
