I'm not able to reproduce this bug for single page or multi page links in Firefox (3.5 and 3.6.3) or Chrome.

I face the problem now with the updated Ubuntu Lucid and Firefox 3.6.3. Quotes linked on same pages is ok but if its from other page it just takes me to the first page irrespective on which page it was linked and from where.

I'm also using Ubuntu Lucid and Firefox 3.6.3, so it's unlikely to be a browser issue (unless it's related to an addon).

* The URL you are *clicking* on that is not taking you where you expect it to.
* Where you are expecting it to take you.
* Exactly where you're finding the link.

Takes me to first page of the thread.

That URL really does point to the first page of the thread, so is going where you'd expect it to. It's possible there's a bug in the way some threads are quoted. I'm looking into it now.
