When I tried to use tags I received a message telling me I was not authorised to use them (or words to that effect).
I am surprised that the board does not support avatars. In most other groups they are used routinely.
I can add a signature (misread instruction).
Happy New year
Ps. Where did the board pick up the information for the ubuntu icon (bottom left of post) - linuxubuntu. Now disappeared to leave a ? mark

That would be from the user agent string of your browser. If you want to see your browser's user agent string, go to http://whatismyuseragent.com.
The user agent string may not be accurate. Many Ubuntu derivatives report as "Ubuntu," for example. Depending on your browser, you may be able to get a plugin or extension to manipulate your user agent string--I use one to ensure that my user agent sting reports the proper distro.
