Auto disable/close threads after 2 years.

I've seen quite a few REALLY old posts that have been reanimated by recent replies. Every time it happens someone will reply while completely Freaking Out on the poster that dug up the old thread.

So, to save everyone stress, why not auto-close or disable replies to threads over 2 years old or something similar?

Totally concur.

The 'search for similar threads' searches back to the beginning of time. If you choose the right subject line you can read about a problem that is solved by updating to kernel 2.4 :-/. Not much use these days. I've been attacked for resurrecting 2004 threads this way accidentally.

Freaking Out is not the correct response, but we have no plans to auto-close old threads. This has been discussed before, so if you're interested in the reasoning a quick search should help.
