If you can't understand what they're talking about, then ask them to clarify the parts that you don't understand.

Both mentioned members gave you a link to well known articles that explains how you should ask your questions in the right way. This includes things like giving information on your problem and showing what you already have done and where you have difficulties. Onebuck even gave you links to information about the processor-types you have asked about. In which way is this trollish behavior? In opposition to you those two members were polite and friendly.

First I'm a expert of message boards I probably have post count of over 5,000 of many many many many message boards this is the only kid that is posting crap like this ( never seen it on other boards). There is nothing wrong with way I'm posting and I seen many many many many many and I say again many many many post where person is computer illiterate even dump post here and many places .

Secont if you got to know me the way I talk ,post ,write or do things is my way. You suck it up and be a big man and read it , reply to it or do not reply or move on. Yes know where is it saying you must read it or reply to the post.

And last if you do have a problem the way I post that is your problem .If I'm a computer engineer or can read benchmarks I would not be asking here.

Even a A+ tech person or sale person does not have the skills to reply.

And last but not least the i5 Core i5-6xx , Core i5-4xx and ,Core i5-5xx is a dual-core .Only people that have computer engineer or can read benchmarks or have 2 computers one i5 2 core and other i7 4 core can reply.

You making a big scene out of nothing that post is not even a day old give it dam week for a reply .People are not getting paid to read it or to reply to it.If this was a paid side for I pay to get question answer than yes I will want a reply in day .It is free site and people reply or not simple as that . You the one making life very complicated with immature behavior.

Grow up . Read ,reply or do not reply I don't care but tell me how to talk ,post ,write or do thing I will bite.

Regardless of your past experiences you are quite new to Linuxquestions.org.
The "When in Rome do as the Romans do" applies to you: do realize you are a guest in this House.
I suggest you acclimatize, realize it is not you who sets the rules and get on with things.

I never said I will be braking the moderator rules like trolling ,harasmint ,off topic or cross posting or any message board rules..

Both threads have gone in very bad way .And it may be best I do not reply to the 2 threads and allow the moderators to deal with it.

there's a little box on the lower left corner of every post that says Report. You should use that rather than starting an entire thread like this. Its bad etiquette.

Personally, I didn't see any issue with this part.

"Unhappy I need help slow computer? Have to get a new computer.
Should I get a i7 Quad core or i5 duo core?

Some one was telling me that a i7 Quad core would NOT be 1.5 or 2 times faster than the i5 duo core.

Also some people say get a AMD phenom 2 the 6 core or 4 core or i5 or i7.But is it true that the i7 Quad core would NOT be 1.5 or 2 times faster than the i5 duo core.

Also some people say get a Mac computer they rock for video editing as alot of people at hollwood use a Mac and way better than Windows or Linux for video editing.

It takes long time for video editing for me.Just to do 26 minutes takes about 2 hours and that just triming ,removing parts of the video and if I do upscaling ,sharpening or effects it take a very long time."

It was a bit run on and confusing and not an easy question to reply to but.....

.....once you started with the crack part you left yourself open to their rage.

I didn't get why gentisle went off on you though.

Experts in this forum sometimes respond to a badly written question by giving you advise on how to ask more effectively, rather than by giving you an answer to your question.

That advise is almost always intended to be constructive, even though original posters, such as yourself, rarely see it as constructive.

I personally thought their initial replies were a bit over the top for the moderately low quality of your initial question. Their initial replies were appropriate for some much worse initial question.

In that situation, you should remember that you are the one asking for help. If your objective is to actually get help, you need to understate your response to any bad initial replies. Ignoring bad replies entirely may be best.

You killed your thread right there.

I think Onebuck was inappropriate in his initial reply. Notice under his name where it says he is a moderator. Life is unfair. That includes forums. But if you waste your time focusing on that unfairness, you don't achieve your objectives.

You should understand two important things from the path your thread took.

1) Onebuck made an inappropriate reply, but that left plenty of room for your thread to get back on track. You over reacted and that killed the thread.

2) You wanted information. Onebuck wanted to help (really, despite what that looks like to you now). You both lost. But the chance for a timely constructive answer to your original question (which you lost) should have been more important than what Onebuck lost. You are the one asking for help, so you should be the one who under reacts to any impolite reply.

I read the thread, and I don't see how gentisle was engaging in anything resembling trollish behavior, though I do see how his post could be misread as such.

Please read it again, because he's basically saying he's providing you a link to a document, the document's writer is kind of a jerk, but it can be helpful nevertheless.

The original post is most definitely a terrible question.

If you don't appreciate the thread don't post in it: Maybe the OP is from Canada. That would explai

n everything.

The original post is fine. I think that maybe the responses are a carry over emotion created from a previous thread. I don't see how the original post is offensive.

Quote:
You need to repost this with a more apropos title. You might get more responses that way. You might also check out this page written by some arrogant person who doesn't understand that integrity means treating EVERYONE the same regardless of rank, intelligence, ect. Even so, it will help you get better help.

There computer is slow and they want to get a new one in the context of CPU data. No thinking is involved for that one.

The original poster is not and has not complained about not getting a response that I can see.

Some how ;and not by this thread ,the responders were offended so it has no place in this thread. The last one the original poster made maybe but not this one.

For what ever reason it is too common for members to treat this forum as a last resort after hours have been spent on the web. A lot of times enthusiasts are not aware of the correct term to search for which I believe is one of the best benefits of a forum. Posting links is an added bonus but not what the bread and butter of a forum should be in my opinion. Should a forum be just a hyperlink to Wikipedia?

The Link for "How to ask a Question" is not all that complementary. The first time I had a response from a member with this in their signature I thought is was a gag used as a purposeful insult. The doc. is ridiculously long and the context of it is that your trying it communicate with an insane person and you have to appease them for information or remain ignorant like its a pay off or something. Personally I'm too self conscious to put this in my signature because I don't think it amounts to anything positive and is mean-spirted.

The original post is not refined or subordinate in manner but there is no reason that it can't be like a water-cooler conversation at morning break either. I really think that aggravation from previous threads gets vented later on and the OP is just going to assume that you don't like them and it has nothing to do with the present thread. We are all not going to have the demeanor of Charles Emerson Winchester the Third are we?

The offensive part is the O.P is using a Windows computer and is thinking of somehow putting one of these CPUs in an Apple. Maybe this computer could be referred to as a Micro-apple?

For the record, when Amdx2_x64 said "troll?" he was talking about you. I don't know if you missed that or if you just pretended to.

Here, btw, is your answer:

All things being equal, you should obviously go for the i7. You haven't posted any information that would indicate that the i5 could possibly be a better choice. If the question had been something like "I can afford an i5 and good RAM or a good video card, or an i7 and cheaper RAM or a cheaper video card", then the question would have made sense.

Everyone here is indeed here on a volunteer basis, so dictating who should and should not reply isn't something that should be done. I've re-opened the thread in question so discussion can continue there. In the future if you have an issue with a post, please use the report button instead of starting a dedicated thread.

I hope you are joking because post quantity doesn't mean beeing "expert". No offence but if you was expert you would behave way more different - with respect and not ego-trip on first misunderstanding.
