[SOLVED] How does one become a Moderator

Yo dudes,

I am curious how members can become Moderators

k3lt01 12-17-2011 09:43 PM

Don't go picking fights (I am not a dude lol).
Be an inspiration to others.
Be the epitome of truth, justice, and the LQ way.
Don't plagiarise (did I say that?).
Share your knowledge without fear or favour.
Be nice.

Seriously I don't know but I am interested in why someone with only one post and who registered only 2 days ago is asking.

george_c60 12-17-2011 10:20 PM

Trying to increase my post count and couldn't think of anything to write about :/ which explains my irregular question. Sorry for the dude part, it's how I talk :)

fukawi1 12-17-2011 10:35 PM

Well firstly, posting in "general" doesn't increase your post count.

And secondly, why are you trying to increase your post count?

Posts that are outside of Linux forums (i.e. in General like this one) are not counted and thus the reason your post count is still only one. Ask questions or help people in the main section that'll increase your post count.

BTW, the dude remark was a joke, there is a joke among younger schools kids in Australia that a dude is a whale's or camel's male appendage!

george_c60 12-17-2011 11:24 PM

@ fukawi1

dude, how is asking someone how can they be a Moderator is violating something constructive to say.

Sure I asked this question to raise my post count but I was also curious on the answer too.

george_c60 12-18-2011 12:19 AM

Thanks k3lt01 for answering my question. I will mark this thread as solved.

BTW, I have no plans on going to Australia in near future, But if I do I'll be careful not to address a person as dude even if it is a joke as you stated. If I do slip, I'll tell them that in the USA dude is like saying hey guys/gals.

One becomes a moderator when forum administrator (jeremy) adds him to "moderator" group, obviously.

Everything else is not related.

Even moderators here are not sure know how and why they did become one. It's a science fiction. :D

Quote:

Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginary but more or less plausible (or at least non-supernatural) content such as future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, aliens, and paranormal abilities. Exploring the consequences of scientific innovations is one purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".

Except in the case of XavierP. I believe legend has it he pulled a keyboard out of stone or something along those lines. Or maybe it was some watery tart tossing a Slackware CD at him. I keep getting those stories confused.

dugan 12-18-2011 08:57 AM

This is what XavierP had to do to become a moderator:

You have violated a moderators directive. Expect an email RSN.
