Need freelance help in Hftd CT area for an application on SuSE

We are a small business in Farmington and have a SuSE Linux box on which we tried to install a database application called Eloquence. I tried to follow the installation instructions but have now boxed myself in a corner. We need freelance consulting to back us out of the installation and help with installing the application the correct way. Will pay on an hourly basis or job basis. Help!

If you don't mind the job being done remotely, I would be more than happy to help. My rate is $55/Hr or with more details about what you need, I could give you a price for the whole job.

Also, if you simply want to ask questions on LQ and have them answered, there is no cost for that.

Let me know

Forrest

Application installation mess details

We installed SuSE on a Dell Linux Server and then I tried to install Eloquence maintained and distributed by Marxmeier Software AG in Germany. It is a database application with associated query and programming tools. The initial installation seemed to go okay. Then I started to follow their installation procedures documented on their web site eloquence.marxmeier.com. I had to set up two new groups and two new users. Then I modified several Eloquence text files and rebooted the system. I ended up with a black screen and a cursor that I could move. I did a Ctrl Alt F1 and then a Ctrl and found myself at a login prompt. Above was many lines of documentation that did not give a novice like me any idea how to straighten out the mess. I have a picture of the screen I could e-mail to you for review. I don't have any idea if this can be solved remotely.

If you made it to a login screen it can be solved remotely because the system is up. I too can tackle this for you remotely so long as your ssh server is up and running.

The whole job

After reviewing this over the weekend, I realized I should have spelled out the project in more detail. We need to have the Linux machine straightened out and the Eloquence application installed properly. The Eloquence application details can be found at http://eloquence.maxmeier.com. Click on Documentation at the left of the screen. Click on Eloquence B.07.00 Installation and Config. Go to the section on Installing Eloquence on the Linux platform. This application runs on the Linux box and passes through a Windows Server running Small Business Server 2003. At the PC's we view the application using Putty. If you would review the installation installation documentation you will probably get a better idea of what is involved and then give me an estimate of what it would take to do this. We do appreciate you taking the time to look this over. Additionally, if this is done remotely, can we use sudo or a similiar command so we don't need to give you our root password? Thanks.

post reply to database installation

I too can help you accomplish the job as long as you give remote access through ssh.
