Based at the Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory, Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, South Wales, UK, the post-holder will be expected to maintain all SMTL IT hardware and software systems, including web sites, software, databases, servers, workstations and laptops.

The post-holder will be expected to be competent and experienced in many or most of the following: UNIX/Linux system administration, UNIX scripting tools (perl, python or shell), Web server maintenance (Apache, Zope), Internet infrastructure (DNS, firewall, SMTP), SQL databases, XML/SGML, Linux text processing tools (latex, troff, Lyx, OpenOffice).

We are an NHS testing laboratory, also providing commercial testing services, running mainly open source software. ALl servers and most workstations are linux (Suse at the moment). 17 staff, providing a relaxed and friendly environment.
