DISCUSSION: [Hari's Linux Corner] Random Linux app: hydrogen

This thread is to discuss the article titled:
[Hari's Linux Corner] Random Linux app: hydrogen

Quote:
This week's random Linux app is hydrogen. I've chosen hydrogen because it's a very useful little drum machine for Linux and requires very minimal setup. In fact, it doesn't even require that you configure MIDI because it uses its own patches. One of the biggest drawbacks in most other MIDI programs is that they require you to set up MIDI in Linux - which requires you to install timidity and some free sound patches in most cases. The interface is extremely intuitive and easy to use (you can create songs by using the pattern editor and then using the song editor to create a sequence of patterns to create a song. The impressive thing about this is that almost anybody can create very catchy drumbeats using this app and it exports both to MIDI and to WAV format. All in easy, an extremely addictive program for people interested in composing music on Linux.
