Hi guys!! Brand new to the forum and I'm trying to learn more about linux. In the past I've noticed that people have been hostile to newbie questions, I hope this forum is friendlier.

Aww well I'm sorry you had to see anything like that. Along the internet sadly there are people that just love to get into fights, bolden by the electronic shield that protects them.

I've witnessed a few rude individuals but for the most part everyone seems pretty friendly here. We try to be helpful here and I wish you the best in your quest to learn about Linux.

Feel free to ask away and we will do our best.

Welcome to LQ,
everybody was a newbie at one point or another, people just tend to forget that.

You will find yourself more than welcome here, just pay a visit to the newbies forum and see for yourself.
