I am using the LIVE CD to test my older computer, a pentium 233 with 384 Meg memory. I have an ADMTek AN983 B card. I am using it on a LAN through a Linksys modem to a cable router. My two window computers connect to the Internet correctly.
The Network Icon in the top right shows only that the network is disconnected. I have tried two different cat-5 cables.
When I use the command line ifconfig, the result is (abbreviated)
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:bf:ec:72:c4
inet6 addr: fe80::250:bfff:feec:72c4/64 Scope:link
rather than the local address id of the lan.
the loopback line is
lo Link encap:local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
I have been searching the forums but have not found a reference to an unrecognized address for eth0. The ADMtek card does not seem to have any Linux drivers that I could find.
Thanks in advance,
