Man.. I have always wondered (late at night), if there was a way I could control xmms remotely.. and I set it up today :D
I also wanted to use xmms as an alarm. there is. and I set it up today. I wanted to play snes games. and I did. in a few minutes I was playing super mario world using zsnes. GNU/Linux rocks.

Did you use LIRC? I have it running and it kicks ass, I can change songs from my bed!!

BTW how did you get it to work as an alarm clock? I've been wanting to do that.

I change the songs with xmmsd, it has a web interface to change songs with. To use it as an alarm, I use xmms-alarm. Take a look on google :-)
