USB flash drive works like a charm!
My wife recently got one of those cool little USB flash drives. It came with drivers for Win98, so she was working on installing it on her Windows box; rebooted, stuck in the stick, and nothing happened. I said "hey lemme give it a try." Stuck it in my Linux box, saw the kernel recognize it in the system log, mounted /dev/sdb1 and voila! After some fiddling we finally got Windows to see it, but only by rebooting with it in the USB port, and after that it's still somewhat of a mystery...
It was a nice pleasant surprise, though, for something to be easier in Linux than in Windows! I was expecting hours of fiddling, kernel recompiling, etc., but nope!
